ERGO conducts the grand finale of the Insurance Awareness Awards Junior Quiz – Tamil Nadu & Puducherry Chapter 2025


~As the lead insurer of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry under IRDAI’s State Insurance Awareness programme, the Company deepens its commitment to reach the last mile with 530+ teams participating in this quiz from Tamil medium Government schools across 42 districts of these states~

Chennai, March , 2025: HDFC ERGO General Insurance Company, India’s leading private sector general insurer, successfully conducted the grand finale of the second edition of the Insurance Awareness Awards Junior – Tamil Nadu & Puducherry Chapter 2025. As the lead insurer for these states under IRDAI’s State Insurance Awareness Programme, HDFC ERGO continues to drive financial literacy and insurance awareness at the grassroots level.
The competition witnessed enthusiastic participation of 530+ teams from Tamil medium government schools across 42 districts of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. After the thrilling preliminary and semi-finale rounds, the finale witnessed fierce contest among eight teams, with (names of contestants) from (name of the school) emerging as the winner. (names of contestants) from (XX School) & (names of contestants from (xx school) secured a well-deserved first runner-up position, followed by (names of contestants from (xx school) securing the second runner up position.
HDFC ERGO embarked upon its journey to spread insurance awareness among next generation in 2016, where it introduced this unique initiative – Insurance Awareness Awards – Junior Quiz, for students across India. What began with 18 schools in 2016, has today become one of the most anticipated annual events for school students across the Nation. The year 2024 marked the ninth edition of the National level Insurance Awareness Awards – Junior Quiz, with ~3200 students participating from 200 cities of the country. Till date, this National level quiz has reached out to ~25 lakh students.
Recognising the need to enhance financial literacy among students at the state level and backed by the success of the National level quiz, the company launched the Tamil Nadu and Puducherry version of this quiz last year. The initiative has gained significant momentum this year, with participation increasing from 100+ teams during last year to 530+ teams this year.
Speaking about this initiative, Ankur Bahorey, Director and Chief Operating Officer, HDFC ERGO General Insurance said, ” Financial awareness at an early age is crucial in shaping an economically resilient future. We are confident that our Insurance Awareness Awards Junior Quiz – Tamil Nadu & Puducherry Chapter 2025 will equip our young generation with insurance knowledge so that they can make informed decisions and contribute to a financially secure India.”

The winners of the quiz were awarded a prize money of Rs 1,50,000, followed by the first and second runners-up with Rs 90,000 and Rs 60,000 respectively. The remaining 5 teams were awarded cash prize of Rs 30,000 each.
Along with organising Insurance Awareness Awards Junior – Tamil Nadu & Puducherry Chapter, HDFC ERGO has also conducted 2nd edition of ‘Kapitu Varaam’ or ‘Insurance Week’ initiative, involving 29 non-life insurers with key areas of focus including motor, health, home, shopkeeper, and MSME insurance products, at Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. Under this initiative, insurance awareness to the last mile was built conducted through various Marketing activities including – newspaper inserts, pamphlet distributions, and high-traffic area activations. Additionally, the Company also launched the Bima Rath Van campaign, which used a customised van that played a regional Tamil jingle to educate communities on health, motor, and home insurance. This outreach initiative covered 220+ gram panchayats, engaging 50,000+ individuals across three districts—Ramanathapuram, Virudhunagar, and Puducherry.
