The team of experienced surgeons, led by Pediatric Surgeon Dr. Raghul, along with anesthesiologist, Dr. Saravanan performed a Bilateral Herniotomy procedure to repair the hernias on both sides. The child was closely monitored in the post-operative period. Now, the infant was stable and completely doing well. The 3-month-old infant from Tambaram, Chennai was brought to Deepam Hospital, Tambaram after crying continuously for two days, particularly at night. The Team of pediatricians, spearheaded by Dr Padma Sushma and Dr Vidhyalakshmi at Deepam Hospitals examined the baby and noticed that the baby had developed noticeable swelling in the lower abdomen which worsened while crying at night. After further evaluation, the condition diagnosed was Obstructed Hernia. In Obstructed Hernia, a part of the intestine has become trapped within the hernia, causing blockage which even comprise the blood supply to the affected tissue, and it is a medical emergency for a 3-month-old baby said Dr Rahul, Consultant – Pediatric Surgeon, Deepam Hospital. Further, it was complicated by an ovary as content on the left side. The trapped ovary was unable to return to its proper position in the abdominal cavity, which could lead to blocked blood flow, putting the ovary at risk of permanent damage or its removal if untreated, added, Dr Raghul. During the surgery, the hernia sacs on both sides were carefully transfixed, ligated, and divided at the deep inguinal ring level. The left inguinal canal was opened, and the left ovary was reduced into its proper position, preventing further complications said Dr RaghulSpeaking about the successful procedure on a 3-month-old infant, Dr. Karthik Pandian, Managing Director of Deepam Hospitals Group, states that “Deepam Hospitals has been leading the way in providing affordable paediatric surgical care.
